Frost & freeze monitoring · LoRa mesh
Touch Grass To Digital.
Chopaka Labs puts eyes on the far corner of your land — temperature, frost, and weather, reported straight to your phone. The kind of monitoring a big operation pays fifty grand for, in a kit that runs about two hundred. No code. No cloud subscription.
That's all it takes. One unwatched cold snap on a high-value crop and the season's gone before sunrise.
Why it matters
A single frost can wipe out the whole season.
On a clear, still night the cold pools in the low spots and the far corners first — exactly where you aren't standing at 2 AM. For a vineyard, an orchard, or a field of high-value fruit, one missed freeze is tens of thousands of dollars on the ground by morning.
The fix isn't more acreage walked in the dark. It's knowing the temperature out there before it crosses the line — with enough warning to light the smudge pots, run the wind machines, or just get out there.
The kit
Everything you need, soup to nuts.
Two pieces of hardware and an app. The node lives in the field, the gateway sits at the house, and the whole picture rides in your pocket.
Solar-powered and weatherproof, it sits out in the rows reading temperature, frost, and the air around your crop — then talks home over long-range LoRa, no WiFi required.
The hub at the house. It hears every node, holds onto readings if the internet hiccups, and pushes the picture up so you can see it from anywhere.
Set your line, see every reading, and get woken up the moment the cold crosses it. If you can use a smartphone, you can run the whole operation.
How it works
From the back forty to your nightstand.
Plant a node in the field
Stake the PakaNode where the frost shows up first — the low spot, the far corner. It runs on a small solar panel and reads the canopy day and night.
SOLAR · WEATHERPROOFIt talks home over LoRa
Long-range radio carries the readings to the PakaHome gateway at the house — miles, not feet, and right through the dead zones WiFi never reaches.
LoRa MESH · 915 MHzYour phone wakes you
Set the temperature you care about. The moment a reading crosses it, PakaNtrol sounds the alarm — loud enough to wake you, with time to do something about it.
PUSH · EMAILWhat it watches
More than a thermometer.
A canopy frost probe right in the crop, plus an environmental sensor reading the whole picture of the air around it. One node can watch up to three temperatures at once.
Expand any node with a soil-moisture or pressure probe on either port — the node abides, and grows with the operation.
The whole idea
A $50,000 monitoring system, in a $200 starter kit.
LoRa mesh that reaches where WiFi can't, owner-operated, with the data and the control kept squarely in your hands. We'd rather sell you a good box once than rent you your own field.
