Cookie Policy
We use about as few cookies as a website can. The ones we keep make the site work and remember your choices — none of them follow you around the internet or feed an advertiser.
What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to store. It lets the site remember small things between page loads — that you're signed in, that you chose dark mode, that you already dismissed a banner. "Cookies" here also covers similar browser storage like localStorage, which we use for a couple of preferences.
Our stance
In plain words
Strictly necessary cookies are always on — they're how the site works. Everything else is optional and off until you say yes. No advertising cookies are used at all.
We don't run advertising networks, social-media pixels, or cross-site trackers on this website. The cookies we set fall into a small number of honest buckets, and you control the optional ones with the banner — or any time, from the .
What we use, exactly
| Category | What it does | Examples | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Signs you in, keeps your session secure, and remembers your cookie choice. The site can't work without these, so they're always on. | session · auth · csrf · cookie_consent | Session – 1 yr |
| Preferences | Remembers small choices like light/dark theme and which one-time notes you've dismissed. | theme · dismissed | 1 yr |
| Analytics | Privacy-respecting, aggregate counts of which pages get read, so we know what's working. No cross-site tracking, no selling. Off until you allow it. | _cpk_stats | 90 days |
| Advertising | We don't use any. There's nothing in this row on purpose. | — none — | — |
Cookies at checkout
When you buy hardware, checkout runs through Shopify (with PayPal as a payment option). Those services set their own cookies on their own pages to process your order securely and prevent fraud. We don't control those cookies; they're governed by Shopify's and PayPal's own policies. We mention it because it's the one place a third party's cookies come into play.
A note on the app
This policy is about the website. The PakaNtrol app itself isn't a cookie-driven web page — it stores a little data on your own device (your sign-in token and recent readings) so it works offline, and it makes no third-party web calls of its own. That's why there's no cookie banner inside the app. How the app handles your data is covered in the Privacy Policy.
Managing your choices
In plain words
Change your mind any time — open the and flip the optional ones on or off. You can also clear cookies in your browser.
When you first arrive, the banner lets you accept everything, keep only what's necessary, or pick category by category. You can reopen those settings any time from the link above or the footer. You can also delete cookies and block them outright in your browser's settings — though turning off the strictly necessary ones will sign you out and keep the site from remembering you.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add or remove a cookie, we'll update this page and the "Effective" date above. If a change ever needs fresh consent, the banner will ask you again.
